VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

NEW FOR SPRING 2025
ALL TEAMS WILL BE REQUIRED TO STAFF THE SNACK BAR. PRIOR TO THE SEASON THE LEAGUE WILL DISTRIBUTE A SCHEDULE FOR THE ASSIGNED DATES. A FOOD HANDLER CARD WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THIS WORK.

STANDARD MANAGER REQUIREMENTS AND TRAINING
ALL MANAGERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING BACKGROUND CHECKS AND TRAINING.

1. JDP BACKGROUND CHECK
THIS WILL EMAILED TO THE CANDIDATE AFTER THEY COMPLETE VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION

2. LIVESCAN
MANAGERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND EITHER ONE OF TWO LIVESCAN EVENTS PROVIDED AT LEAGUE EXPENSE. IF MANAGER CANDIDATES ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND EITHER OF THESE EVENTS THEY CAN COMPLETE LIVESCAN ON THEIR OWN AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE AT THE POST OFFICE OR UPS STORE. 3. USA BASEBALL - ABUSE AWARENESS FOR ADULTS TRAINING COURSE
COMPLETE USA BASEBALL ABUSE AWARENESS FOR ADULTS TRAINING AT THE FOLLOWING LINK THEN SEND THE CERTIFICATE TO SAFETY OFFICER'S EMAIL.

TEAM VOLUNTEERS

  • Manager - Head coach. Attends managers’ meetings. (For competitive divisions, attends player evaluations and team draft) Responsible for the day-to-day running of the baseball team. Runs practice. Oversees and makes all the final decisions regarding strategy, line up, training and instruction for the team. Generally holds 1-2 practices per week and manages 1-2 scheduled games per week. For more information about Managing requirements click here: Team Manager
  •  Coach - Assist manager with on-the-field needs of the team.
  • Team Parent Volunteer - Assist manager with off-the-field needs off the team. Coordinate team snack schedule. Remind teammates about practices, games, and league events. Plan team party. Make sure players' parents have completed volunteer hours for the season.
  • Field Prep - One representative from each team will prepare the field prior to first game of the day - drag and chalk field, place bases, set up scorekeeping table & chairs (if applicable).
  • Scorekeeper/Pitch Counter - Keep accurate record of the game to include team line up, minimum play, score and pitch count. Calculate days of rest and obtain managers’ signatures after each game. For each game the Home team is required to provide the Scorekeeper and Visiting team is required to provide the Pitch Counter. Must attend Scorekeeping Clinic held in Spring, date and time announced each season.
LEAGUE VOLUNTEERS

  • Umpire - Behind the plate ump or base ump. Responsible for enforcing on-the-field rules and rendering decisions on judgement calls to include calling balls, strikes, and outs. Need a good understanding of the game. Ability to stand for an extended period of time. To be eligible, must attend Umpire clinic in Spring, date and time tbd. Work with Umpire In Charge for scheduling.
  • Snack Bar Volunteer - Run snack bar for the league during games and/or tournaments. Take customer orders, prepare and distribute food and drink orders accordingly. Handle cash and credit/debit card transactions. Restock items. 2-3 hour shifts. Work with Volunteer Coordinator for scheduling.
  • Board Member - Attend monthly board meetings and help manage the property and affairs of the league. To see current board openings and description of responsibilities:
